Tesla’s Cars and Batteries Seem to Self-Destruct

After the wreck, I received an app alert that my car was out of coolant and needed to be serviced. Shortly thereafter it was put in service mode and I was unable to monitor cabin or battery conditions.

I did, however, file an in-app request to check the battery health and was told it was fine.

Later the same day I was told by GEICO and the repair shop that the cooling system had been running non-stop since the wreck and was probably fried. That also meant that the battery itself had probably overheated and was no longer at full efficiency.

This was after the in app check told me everything was fine.
